Holy Roar – Barak

Cody Andersen – February 11, 2018

Dear Friends,

Let me begin by simply wishing each and every one of you “Happy Birthday!” I just passed my 61st. Whoo hooo! Ouch, I think I just pulled something.

I took a hike that day on the Appalachian Trail and took great joy in the fact that I was not here by my own doing, God had created me! An amazing, humbling and deeply significant reality.

The same is true for you. You are not an accident. The God of all creation wove you together in your mother’s womb. He knew everyone of your days before there was even one.

And He had a purpose for you and me. Some have said that our basic purpose as human beings is to know God and enjoy Him, adore Him, praise Him, worship Him forever.

We do that when we take our “everyday, ordinary life – (our) sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking around life, and (placing) it before God as an offering.”  Romans 12:1 The Message

And we also enjoy God and worship Him and adore Him when we gather together.

We’re going to take the very first part of 2018 and ask God to help us grow and experience Him more when we gather to praise Him.

We’re going to call this series “Holy Roar”. The Psalms will be our basic text in the Bible. We’ll also be challenged and encouraged as we read Holy Roar by Chris Tomlin and his pastor, Darren Whitehead.

I appreciate what pastor and author Max Lucado has to say about this series, “Chris and Darren have written an inspiring, insightful and practical book on worship. They unpack key biblical terms and, in doing so, unlock spiritual truths. Their teaching will activate within you a desire to turn your heart toward God more frequently and passionately. What could be greater than that?”

I hope you join us every week on this adventure!
